Wars episode II: Attack Of The Clones
"Anakin
(Christensen) has grown into the accomplished Jedi apprentice of
Obi-Wan (McGregor), who himself has transitioned from student to
teacher. The two Jedi are assigned to protect Padmé (Portman)
whose life is threatened by a faction of political separatists.
As relationships form and powerful forces collide, these heroes
face choices that will impact not only their own fates, but the
destiny of the Republic."
Lucas released this about the basic
plot. "Anakin (Christensen) has grown into the accomplished
Jedi
apprentice of Obi-Wan (McGregor), who himself has transitioned from
student to teacher. The two Jedi are assigned to protect Padmé (Portman)
whose life is threatened by a faction of political separatists.
As relationships for m
and powerful forces collide, these heroes face choices that will
impact not only their own fates, but the destiny of the Republic."
The main problem Lucas has is that
he is a complete dork. The film was a great film of massive porportion.
But when you sit through some of the love scenes with Anakin and
Padme, you quickly realize that George Lucas has never been laid.
I think he should have given the love scenes to someone else to
write, or dropped a few hundred dollars on some hookers to get back
in the grove.
There are definite writing lessons
to be learned here. Lucas is a creative genius. No question. But
when you take a film like star wars, which most of us are all eagerly
awaiting, and then after seeing this film you say "I would
have done this different", then your writing. Think about scenes
that you would have made different and ask yourself why. It's hard
for me to question or criticize Lucas considering he is one of the
influences that started me down the creative dark path.
Star Wars episode II: Attack
Of The Clones is good. I think I was more excited when I
saw The Phantom Menace, but that might
be because it was the first new Star Wars in sixteen years. This
story is set ten years after, with less Jar Jar, and a grown up
Anakin. The film takes you right into the heart of the Star Wars
universe and makes you remember what you loved about the original
trilogy. The hardest thing to grasp is the digital Yoda. Yoda will
always be seen as a muppet to us, so when you see him digital it
take some time to get used to.
I think this film will do less
than Phantom Menace did at the box-office, but so did The
Empire Strikes Back following Star Wars, which
later on down the road was considered the best by almost everyone
who really loves the series. The official release date is May 16th,
2002.
